Born to Celebrate
On a sunny September 21, a little green lizard was born on Caye Caulker. His family named him Leonard. Everyone called him Lenny.
With a birthday on Belize’s Independence Day, his family always said he was born to celebrate.
ROOTS, REEF & FAMILY
Growing up in a Belizean Kriol family, Lenny learned to respect his neighbors, lend a helping hand, and always make room for one more friend.

HOW LAZY LENNY GOT HIS NAME
There was one lesson Lenny never quite mastered: getting up early. He preferred a shady palm, passing boats, and a warm island breeze.
“Leonard, you are the laziest little lizard in all of Belize!”

THE PLACE THAT FELT LIKE HOME.
Lenny explored every corner of Caye Caulker, but his favorite place was always The Split. Here, the water sparkled, music drifted through the air, and everyone belonged.
One afternoon, he settled beside the water, adjusted his sunglasses, and smiled.
“Now THIS is how Belize does happy!”
At Lazy Lizard, he found his forever home.

THEN LIFE GOT A LITTLE LESS LAZY...
When his son Leo was born, Lenny discovered a whole new kind of happiness. While Daddy loved his favorite chair, Leo wanted to explore everything.
One afternoon, he settled beside the water, adjusted his sunglasses, and smiled.
“Come on, Daddy! Let’s go have some FUN!”
Now they discover the island together—making memories and learning to care for the sea they call home.
